MTHFR is a gene that people have. In some people this gene is mutated, so they don't "methylate" correctly. This can lead to a build up of toxins and depletion in B vitamins, especially folic acid. Often times, we will see an elevation in homocysteine with that gene. One of the things that I recommend for that is a supplement called MTHFR Pathways or Homocysteine Factors. That has a very high dosage of methylfolate in it, which is the activated version of folic acid. This can help bring down homocysteine levels. The supplement has, methylfolate, trimethylglycine, and B vitamins in it as well.
